Family Session

Welcome Guide

It means everything to me that you chose to have your life documented through my eyes. I do not take this lightly - thank you so much.

I’m looking forward to spending time with your family and documenting the moments that make your life feel like yours. This guide is meant to help you feel ready and relaxed so the day feels easy, natural, and enjoyable for everyone.

Helpful Tips for You

-Eat before your session

Full bellies = happy humans. Bring a few snacks just in case.

-Pick the right time

Plan for when your kids are usually well rested. Mornings or after nap usually work best.

-Choose a familiar spot

Home, a favorite park, or anywhere they feel comfortable is perfect.

-Keep it playful

We’ll lean into what they love. Games, bubbles, pretending - it’s all welcome.

-Let them lead

We’ll take breaks, follow their flow, and keep things relaxed.

-A little incentive helps

Sometimes knowing something fun is waiting after (like ice cream or a small surprise) keeps spirits high.

...And a Few Things I Do to Help

I take time to connect. I introduce the camera gently, let kids hear the shutter, show a few photos, and make it feel like a game. I follow their lead. Superhero phase? Cat obsession? I'll meet them right there and invite you to join in too. No pressure, no "perfect behavior" needed. Skip the prep talk and just tell them they're going to meet a new friend and play. That mindset sets the tone. I show up as a mom. I understand the meltdowns, the big emotions, and the pure joy. I'm patient, playful, and here for your family exactly as you are. I wind up leaving with a hug or high five from littles 99.999% of the time. ;)

Sooo, what's next?

01. What to Wear

Comfortable, cohesive, and true to your family’s style. Avoid big logos and too many busy patterns on multiple bodies. Layers are helpful for changing temperatures or indoor/outdoor movement.

Think of the colors of your home and/or the location we'll be at - make sure you're not blending in with nature.

02. Preparing Your Home

No deep cleaning required.

Messes make your home feel real.

Open blinds for natural light, skip the overhead fixtures, and clear one area where we can sit or play. Toss stray clutter in a basket, but leave the blanket on the couch and the slippers by the door. Keep a few meaningful things out...favorite toys, books, artwork.

The fingerprints and the chaos are the point. We're after comfort, light, and connection.

03. Logistics

On the day of your session, I’ll text when I’m on my way and again when I'm closer/arrive. I aim to arrive about 10 minutes early to get everything situated before we begin.

If parking is limited or there’s anything helpful to know ahead of time, please let me know. I’m flexible and used to navigating street parking and tight driveways, though I do drive a minivan, so access to very tight spaces or rough terrain can be limited - thanks so much for understanding!

FAQ

When is the final payment due?

Final payment is due one week prior to your session. You can pay via Zelle or Venmo, or bring cash the day of your session, which is always appreciated.

What if the weather changes?

We’ll stay flexible. If weather affects our plans, I’ll be in touch to talk through options and next steps.

Can we include pets?

Yes. Pets are part of the family. Just let me know ahead of time if they'll be joining us.

Note: certain locations do not allow animals.

What if someone gets sick?

Please let me know as soon as possible. If someone in your family isn’t feeling well, we’ll talk through rescheduling options.

Can grandparents or other family members join?

Immediate family is always included. If you’d like to include grandparents or extended family, let me know ahead of time so we can plan intentionally. And be aware that this will probably add time to your session to capture everyone.

Are polaroids included in the session?

They are available as an add on. $80 for eight square polaroids to keep same day.

After the Session

Once I leave, the first thing I do is safely back up your images on my computer. From there, I begin the editing process, selecting and refining the images that best reflect your family and the way the session felt. Your full gallery will be delivered via email within the timeframe outlined in your contract, usually 3 to 5 weeks, via a private online gallery where you can view, download, and share your images.

Your gallery will remain live for a set period of time, giving you space to revisit the images, choose favorites, and decide how you’d like to preserve them.
