Every session I've ever done has a moment where the nerves drop and the family stops thinking about the camera. In a short session, that moment often shows up right as we're packing up. So I started offering two hours.
We begin at your house, because it's your space. You know where everything is, the kids know where everything is, and nobody has to act like anyone other than who they are. I tag along with whatever your morning looks like. A snack, a coffee, a stuffed animal tour, a dad getting ambushed in the hallway. I'm mostly just watching and photographing it as it happens.
By the time we leave, we're already comfortable with each other. That matters more than anything else about the session. Then we head to a mountain, a valley, your hometown main street, a creek, or a field somewhere close, and your family is ready to open up. The kids run, the parents slow down, and we get to make something together that feels like true art, because nobody is holding anything back.
Those photos are the ones people end up printing and hanging in their homes, because they look like the real thing.
I serve families in Hendersonville and Mills River and photograph families all over Western North Carolina, including Asheville, Brevard, Flat Rock, and Fletcher. If this sounds like your family, send me a message through my inquiry page and we'll talk it through.
