Out & back with little to no whining!

Our first hike as North Carolina residents! We chose Moore Cove Falls in Pisgah National Forest on a saturday and it was not crowded at all, which felt like a small miracle because I know how iffy parking can be there. All our kids, 8, 7, 4, and 2 made it out and back, with a little bit of whining, lots of tripping and lots of "oooh"s and "ahhh"s.

The trail follows a creek most of the way in and stopping to hear the water run is so claming to my nervous system, I need to figure out a way to bottle that sound up. The sunlight was filtering through the leaves and scattered little moving shadows all over the ground. My oldest said it looked like confetti, and now that's just what we call it.

When we got to the waterfall, we spent a while just looking at the rocks behind the water. the erosion from years of water falling over them was so cool to see, all these smooth curves and layers carved out over time. It's one of those things you don't really notice in photos until you're standing right there.

Overall, a great hike with beautiful things to see.
